OBITUARY
MRS ADA CUMMING LOSS TO WAITAKARURU ' The district of Waitakaruru suffered a sad loss when Mrs Ada Cumming died at the Thames- Hospital on Monday, September 6. Mrs Cumming was the widow of the late Mr John Cumming, a well-known Waitakaruru farmer who died -about three years ago. One of the daughters of the late Mr and Mrs W. Stretton, Mrs Cumming- went to- keep house for her father after her husband’s death and has stayed at the old homestead since. This home has always been an open house for the great number of friends of the family, and sale days always found many callers made welcome there. Mr and Mrs Stretton were amongst the early settlers in Waitakaruru and brought up a family of sons and daughters there. Mrs Cumming has been a member of the Waitakaruru Women’s Institute since its inception, and she will be sadly missed by the members, as -well as other friends. Always kind, happy and bright, and willing to help in any community work, her place will he hard to fill.
