MEETING HELD IN PAEROA WAYS AND MEANS DISCUSSED A meeting of the Paeroa branch of the National Party was held in the Parish Hall last week, the chairman, Mr W. F. Johnstone presiding. A resumq of the conference held in Hamilton recently was given by the chairman who also dealt with the prospects of the forthcoming election. Ways and means of raising funds for the election campaign were discussed and arrangements were made for purging the rolls. NEW BRANCH FORMED THORNTON BAY COMMITTEE As the result of requests from a number of residents of Thornton Bay, Thames Coast, a meeting of National Party supporters was held l in that area recently when the Thames Coast Branch of the New Zealand National Party was formed. The election of officers resulted: Chairman, Mr R. W. Stevens; secretary, Mr E. Horneman; committee, Messrs A. J. Young, A. M. Winstone, A. Dodd, Fauscett, Hammond. Mr W. F. Johnstone addressed the meeting and explained the aims of the party.

GOOD ATTENDANCE MEETING HELD AT COLVILLE There was a good) attendance of members and supporters of the Colville Branch of the National Party held at Colville last Friday night. Mr H. S. Curtis presided. The chairman in introducing the visiting speakers, Messrs D. G. McMillan and C. G. Jackson, explained that the meeting had been called so that members could be given information regarding the forthcoming election. Mr McMillan outlined ways and means by which members could assist the party in the forthcoming election. He referred to the 15 per cent, increased wool payment which the Government had' not paid out to farmers. He also touched on the question of rehabilitation, emphasising the duty which every person owed to the men who were serving in the Armed Forces overseas.

In conclusion he appealed to the gathering to work together and work hard both for the party and the advancement of the country generally.
