“HIGHLY IRREGULAR!”
COMMENT BY COUNCILLOR USE OF A STOCK PADDOCK At the September meeting of the Coromandel County Council a lengthy discussion took place in regard to the stock paddock on TapuCoroglen road, when a , letter was read from the Commissioner of Crown Lands regarding the conditions of the lease .
Various suggestions were made in connection with the offer from Mr Hodge regarding the sale or lease of land set aside for a stock paddock. It was finally proposed by Cr. T. V. Whittle and seconded by Cr. T. E. Simpson “that this council raises no objection to Mi' Hodge clearing up the section and the council will not dispute his occupancy provided he makes a portion of the land available to the public for travelling stock at the usual rates. This being suggested as the council is not at liberty to grant a lease.” Cr. A. Watkins: Highly irregular!
