NEW ROAD WANTED
OPEN UP DAIRYING LAND
REQUEST TO COUNTY COUNCIL
Mr Wm. Hamilton, chairman of directors of the Mercury Bay Dairy Company, waited on the September meeting of the Coromandel County Council to give particulars and urge the investigation of a proposed road from Hot Water Beach to Hahei. He suggested that it would only be one and a half to one and three-quarters of a mile of easy going and estimated that a bulldozer could probably complete the formation in a week.
This extra road would open up more dairy country and he asked that an investigation be made and a report obtained. 1
He further stated that his own land was similar to the country which would be opened up, and he was milking 160 cows on ISO acres. After various queries and a study of the map in the vicinity of the proposed site for the new road, it was proposed by Cr. A. Wat-kin and seconded by €r. T. V. Whittle “that the engineer investigate the proposal and make a report at next meeting.””
