HARD ON TROUSERS

WORK IN THE COWSHED QUESTION OF COUPONS FARMERS’ UNION REQUEST That there be a further reduction in the coupons needed for the purchase of men’s working trousers, working boots and sox, was a remit from the Waihi branch which was discussed at the meeting of the Northern Thames Sub-Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’

Union held in Paeroa on Tuesday. Mr A. J. Campbell (Waikino), stated that the reason for the remit was that with the shortage of gun? boots, boots and trousers in the cowshed, often wet up to the knees and covered with milk would not last very long. Coupons for farmers would not go very far under the present allocation.

Mr R. W. L. Wilson (Matatoki), supported the remit, pointing out that blackberry clearing was also particularly hard on clothing and it was not fair for the farmer to have to use all his coupons for working clothes. The remit was carried unanimously.
