COLOURS, RED AND BLUE A COMMITTEE FORMED OFFICERS FOR THE CAMPAIGN A meeting was held in Coromandel on Wednesday, July 22, at Mrs Barker’s residence, to form a committee to work in support of Miss Gloria Ngapo, Coromandel’s Popular Girl candidate. The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr R. V. Hawley; secretary, Mrs Barker; committee, Mesdames Anderson, Nixon, Compton, Misses C. Fraser, ,B. Fraser, P. Riley, Maxwell, A. Anderson, L. Anderson, J. Eccelstone, J. Notman, T. Darling, M. Keyle and R. Pepper, Messrs T. Lillis, J. G. Strongman, T. Hart and D. Stewartfl
The colours red and gold were chosen for Miss Coromandel. It was decided to make rosettes in the chosen colours and sell them at one shilling each. Mr Murphy stated that the Central Committee was holding £5 for raffles and £1 10's for advertising the campaign.
It was left with the secretary to procure art union books, and to make arrangements for the cake and ornaments, etc., which have been donated for raffles.
