Should settlers on the MirandaMangatangi deviation ever complain of the state of their road to the Hauraki Plainsi County Council, they will find it hard to reconcile the eulogiums passed on the road on Wednesday when pressing their claims for a'bus service. An interesting historical document has been given to the Churchill Auctions in aid of the patriotic funds, the donor being Mr Marcus Plimmer, of Wellington. It is a letter written from the House of Commons on March 2, 1865, by Mr -John Bright, the famous politician and orator, Mr Mr W. E. Gladstone, M.P., and occupies two and a-half pages. This very rare item should attract considerable interest at the sales.
