MR JAS. McVEAGH LEAVING MR GRIFFITH FAREWELLED FUNCTION AT CRITERION HOTEL (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of July 8, 1902.) Mr Jas. McVeagh, solicitor, who for some years past has practised here, is leaving at the end of the week for Stratford, where he resumes control for the time being, of an established firm. While sorry to lose Mr McVeagh from our midst, W’e wish him every success in his new venture in the “land of milk and honey.” A number of friend's . of Mr Fred. Griffiths assembled at the Criterion Hotel on Wednesday evening for the purpose of making him a presentation qn the occasion of his removal from Paeroa to Waihi. The presentation, which took the form of a handsome gold chain and pendant, was made by Mr H. Torrens, manager for Messrs J. Hague Smith and Co., who made a few complimentary remarks regarding the recipient. Mr Griffiths made a suitable reply, thanking his friends for the presentation. .Various toasts were honoured and. an enjoyable evening was spent - by all.
