WOMEN’S DIVISION
COROMANDEL BRANCH MEETS AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON The monthly meeting of the Coromandel branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Caledonian supper room on Saturday, June 27. The president, Mrs W. Evans, presided over a good attendance of members.
It was resolved that a donation of £2 be made to the Lady Galway Guild for material in connection with the quilt-making done by that organisation.
It was decided to ask the president and- secretary to attend the next provincial meeting to be held in August. i A vote of thanks was passed to Miss Suter for her generous donation, and also to the ladies who had made quilts and sewn up for the Lady Galway Guild. A donation of 10s for cocoa and 10s for sugar was made to the School Cocoa Fund.
It was proposed' by Mrs McKenzie and seconded by the vice-president that Mrs Evans be nominated to represent the division on the Rehabilitation ißoard Committee.
Mrs Evans suggested that all members write a suggestion for the betterment of the show, to be read at the next meeting, a prize for the best effort being donated by Mrs Jones.
Mrs Purdom tendered her resignation as treasurer.
Community singing brought the meeting to a close, after which a dainty afternoon tea was served by Mrs Robert Ecclestone and Mrs W. Turner.
