SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETS FUNDS FOR CINEMATOGRAPH The monthly meeting of the Paeroa District High School Committee was held in the school on Monday night, the chairman, Mr C. C. Webb presiding. Others present were Mrs S. Wheeler and Messrs G. A. Gamble, C. A. Blackwood, A. F. Thorp, the secretary, Mr W. Aston and the headmaster, Mr A. E. Day. An apology for absence was received from Mr K. C. Niblock.

The question of securing a cinematograph for the school was again discussed and Mrs Wheeler stated that the Parents’ Association would assist the committee in raising funds but could not guarantee a large amount.

It was decided that a Parents’ Day held at the new High School might result in considerable money (being raised and Mrs Wheeler said that the Parents’ Association would willingly assist in this direction.

Further inquiries are to be made from the Education Department regarding the proposed machine, asking for advice as to whether the machine is suitable for the requirements of the school.

Mrs S: Wheeler and Messrs Blackwood and Aston were appointed a committee to go into ways and means for raising funds for the purchase of the machine.

Advice was received that the School Library Service would start from July 1. Five tenders were received for the lease of the grazing on the area surrounding the new High School but one tender did not comply with the conditions. It was decided to accept the tender of Mr A. White at the rental of £39 10s per year.

Messrs Thorp and Follas were appointed the visiting committee for the ensuing’ month.
