A sitting of the 'No* 2 Armed. Forces Appeal Board WaS held ffi Morrinsville on Monday, Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., presiding. Sine die adjournment was granted Mrs IK. Pulman (Mr McGregor) in respect of John F. Pulman, farmer, of Patetonga, appellant stating that a girl who had assisted in the shed had recently been called to service at the Thames Post Office. Appellant’s husband, who was engaged as a pig buyer, was able to give some assistance. She agreed that better returns might be obtained from the 35-acre farm if fewer than 80' cows were carried. A married son who Plight be called in the next ballgt farmed a property of ’BOO acres, Appellant’s husband detailed his duties in connection with’ his pig buying operations and added that as he had. only 2$ gallons of petrol a month he was on the road, only two days a week. Most of the buying was done at night over the telephone and witness assisted whenever possible on the farm.

Permission to take over the appeal of A. Peterson in respect of Frank E. George, sharemilker, of Patetonga, was granted W. Brown, of Tatuanui. (Mr Needham). Counsel explained that reservist was employed as a sharemilker whose contract would expire this month and he desired to assist Brown who milked 12'0'-130' cows on 200 acres, the milk being supplied to a cheese factory. Brown stated that he had formerly engaged a couple who had gone sharemilking and. although he had advertised for another couple and had offered £7 a week he had received, no replies. The appeal was adjourned sine die.

Sine die adjournment was also granted F. 'Steenson in respect of Cecil <F. G. Steenson, farm hand, of Patetonga, appellant stating that 58 cows were “carried on the 100-acre property. Reservist, who was a member of the Home Guard, had been on the farm for about eleven years. A brother was. on Home Service.
