PIGS AT MORRINS VILLE SALE

COMPETITION FOR BONERS

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited, report that at their weekly Morrinsville stock sale on Friday a very large yarding of fat and store sheep including many pens of fat lambs came forward. Competition was keen throughout and prices in advance of recent sales. A good entry of store lambs met steady competition and sold at satisfactory prices. A smaller penning of beef, together with a large entry of boner cattle. These met with keen competition from export (buyers and realised values fully on a par with recent sales. A full entry of dairy heifers created keen interest, and quality animals met a ready sale, a satisfactory clearance resulting. A large entry of weaner heifers also sold readily. A good offering of all classes, with the demand throughout very keen and prices fully up to last week’s rates. Quotations: — Sheep.—Prime fat wethers, 27 s 6d to 30s; medium fat ewes, to 14s; heavy fat woolly lambs, 27s 2d to 295; prime fat lambs, 23s 6d to 24s gd; medium, 20s 9d to 23s 4d; light, 18s 6d to 20s sd; well-grown store lambs, 15s to 16s 8d; medium, 12s 6d to 14s 9d; others, 9s 3d to 12s 4d. Cattle.—Fat Shorthorn cows, £7 to £7 16s; fat Jersey cows, £5 ss' to £6 12s; medium Jersey cows and heifers, £4 10s to £5 2s 6d; heavy boner cows, £4 5s to £4 14s; medium, £3 to £3 17s; store cows, 35s to £2 ss; empty 2-year Jersey heifers, £2 12s to £3 ss; bulls, 12s 6d to 15s.
