SILVER WEDDING
MR AND MRS SAMUEL SMITH
CELEBRATION AT HIKUTAIA It was a very jolly gathering that took place at the home of Mr and Mrs Samuel Smith, Thames road, Hikutaia, during last week-end when relatives and many friends of these two popular and highly-esteemed residents helped them to celebrate the silver anniversary of their wedding which took place 25 years ago at Thames, since when, they have resided at Hikutaia.
During their long residence in Hikutaia both Mr and Mrs Smith have always proved themselves splendid citizens in every way and showers of congratulations came their
way on this special occasion as well as a large number of beautiful gifts of all kinds, including many in silver.
The handsome cake was very unusual, being heart-shaped and was white with silver decorations. The main toast of the evening was of course “Mr and Mrs Smith” and it was proposed by Mr D. Healey of Hikutaia who said he could only hope that their next 25 years would 'be as happy as their past ones had been. Humorous musical items were given by Mr J. Tompkins.
Mrs Smith wore a model frock of black and white figured sheer. Miss Madge Smith wore a frock of navy corded faille. Miss Joyce Smith wore marina floral sheer.
