PARENTS’ DAY

PAEROA DISTRICT HIGH AFTER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION MEETS The monthly meeting of the Paeroa Parents’ Association was held in the teachers’ room at the Paeroa Primary School on Monday afternoon, Mrs S. Wheeler presiding over the following ladies: Mesdames W. Morrison, M. J. Thomas, B. Sherry, W. Woofe, G. A. Gamble and Mrs E. Darby who acted as secretary in the absence through illness of Mrs O. Gleadow. Apologies were received from Mesdames C. E. James, R. E. Jensen, J. Drake and C. Gleadow. Mrs Wheeler reported that after an interview during which she and Mrs James had discussed, with the school teachers, suggestions by which the cash in hand of the association, could be put to the 'best purpose, it was decided to purchase rugs and a cushion for the leather settee at the High School. The meeting was in complete agreement with this decision and authorised Mrs Wheeler to do the best possible with the money available, The settee comes into use many times for cases of accident or illness among the pupils and the idea of furnishing it with rugs appealed as a most sensible one.

A parents’ day is being arranged to take place in the Parish Hall some time after the approaching school holidays. An attractive programme is assured. Arrangements for this function will be finalised at the next meeting of the association committee on June 1.
