FORTY YEARS AGO
QUIET WEDDING IN PAEROA HALL—MILLER BRIDE IN STYLISH COSTUME (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of May 6, 1902.) A quiet wedding was celebrated at Paeroa on the 7th. inst., the Rev. Mr Belton officiating; The contracting parties were Miss A. L. Miller, eldest daughter of Mr J. N. Miller, of Paeroa and Mr W. J. D. Hall, of Auburn, Pirongia, eldest son of Mr J. Hall of this town. The bride wore a stylish travelling costume of navy
blue cloth, with trimming of white satin, and was attended by her sister, Miss Florence Miller who wore a lovely gold brooch, the gift of the (bridegroom. Mr A. Gibbons of Kopu performed the duties of best man. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a handsome watch and chain.
After the ceremony, a large party of guests assembled at the residence of the bride’s parents, where the wedding breafast was partaken of, after which Mr and. Mrs Hall left by the afternoon train for Te Aroha, where the honeymoon, will be spent. The happy pair were the recipients of congratulations and good wishes from a host of relatives and friends.
