REHABILITATION PROBLEM

COROMANDEL DISCUSSION

DECISION TO BE ASKED FOR

The question of rehabilitation was again discussed in Coromandel recently when the CbroglenWhenuakite branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union wrote to the monthly meeting of the Coromandel County Council asking if the proposed committee in Coromandel had been set up yet.

Considerable discussion took place when the chairman, Mr C. C. Rae intimated that no reply had 'been received from the .board regarding the recommendations forwarded from the meeting held in Coromandel as to the approval or not of appointing a committee in Coromandel.

It was pointed out by Cr. E. M. Minifie that various sub-committees had been formed and they had. got to work and gathered a considerable amount of data ready to be forwarded to the central committee. As no committee had been set up pending reply from the board, was the work done by these committees to be wasted?

It was proposed by Cr. T. V. Whittle and seconded by Cr. T. E. Simpson “That a letter be sent to the Rehabilitation board in terms of the resolution carried at the - meeting held in Coromandel on February 18 stating that a sub-committee had been set up to collect information, and that the council would like a direction as to the setting up of a central committee by the board as suggested by Section 13 of the Act.—'Carried Cr. Whittle further suggested that any data that had been collected by the sub-committees should, be forwarded to the county clerk to be held in readiness for when the time is practicable for it to- ;be used. He said

the time to prepare for the men coming home is now, not to wait till they’re all back. It was resolved that all data received would be placed on record until such time as a central committee could be formed.
