FAT CATTLE AT WAIHOU
STEADY BIDDING FOR PIG'S
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report that at their fortnightly Waihou stock sale on Thursday, a full yarding of fat sheep, comprising mostly lam'bs, came forward. Competition was keen throughout and prices realised in advance of recent quotations.
Another exceptionally heavy entry of boner cows was penned and met a steady sale at recent firm rates. A medium offering of fat cattle also sold freelji. at prices fully equal to those ruling at Central Yards. Several consignments of dairy cattle were included in the offering, and prices for these were on a par with late quotations.
A medium yarding of classes of pigs with bidding steady and values on a par with other centres. Quotations: —
Sheep.—Prime fat woolly wethers, to 33s 6d; prime young ewes, 20s to 21s; heavy fat ewes, to 19 s; prime fat lambs, 23s 6d to 24s 3d; medium, 22s to 22s Id; light, 21s ‘Gd; store lam'bs, to 13s 6d; cull lambs, to ss.
Cattle. —'Heavy second quality cows, £6 5s to £7 11s; prime young Jersey cows and heifers, £5 10s to £6 10s; heavy boner cows, £4 5s to £5; medium, £3 10s to £4; light, £2 10s to £3; canner cows, 10s to 30s; empty 2-year heifers, to £4 ss; Jersey heifercalves, £2 14s to £3 3s; Jersey heifers, r.w.b., £6 10s to £8 15s. Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £3 18s to £4 6s; medium, £3 10s to £3 16s; light, £3 3s to £3 8s; heavy porkers, £2 15s to £3; medium, £2 6s to £2 12s; light, 36s to £2 4s; unfinished, 28s to 345; large stores, 20s to 265; smaller, 12s to 16's; slips, 6s to 10s.
