FINE TRIBUTE
LATE MR F. E. FLATT OF PAEROA
PIONEER OF POWER BOARD
A fine tribute was*paid to the late Mr F. E. Flatt, of Paeroa, at Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board when the manager, Mr R. Sprague, was directed to send the following letter, expressing the board’s sympathy, to Mrs Flatt:—
“I am directed by my board and staff to extend to you their deepest sympathy in your bereavement. “Mr Flatt was one of the pioneers of the board, and- his> judgment and advice was always considered and in most cases acted upon. His integrity was outstanding, and at all times we welcomed any discussion with him in order to get his knowledge and advice on matters pertaining to the activities of the board.
'“Mr Flatt was respected ’by not only board members, 'but the whole of the staff and he was noted for his fearlessness in criticism and his reasonableness in forgetting differences of opinion. The loss to the board will be very hard to fill. He was a member of the Special Finance Committee from the inception of the board, and during the last five years held the position of deputy-chairman. “In respect to Mr Flatt’s memory, the board meeting was adjourned, which is only a small token of appreciation of the respect in which he was held by the board. “Again extending to you and your family our very deepest sympathy.”
