TEN MILLION UNITS POWER BOARD SUPPLY INSTALLATIONS CONTINUED Reporting to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board yesterday the chief engineer, Mr N. ,G. McLeod, stated that an 18-chain extension had been made to give supply to the Public Works Department camp on the west side of the Waihou river and was completed on September 23, and first supply given on September 29. At Owharoa a start had been made on the extension of the main line to give supply to consumers near the river bridge.

District Maintenance

At Waitakaruru 70 chains of low tension line were changed on Mahuta road, and 13 defective cross arms were replaced. At Kopu two extra phases were run on existing poles for a distance of 21 chains in order to supply new motor loading.

Overhauls, restrains and alterations were effected to service lines at Tuma, Hopai road, Hikutaia and Waihi Plains. Eighteen new service lines were connected during the month, and extra phases run for ranges on 14 others.

Units Purchased

The board’s consumption for this quarter now exceeds 10,000,000 units, the increase compared with last year being 13.6%.

Two coils of cable and a mile of bare copper were reported to have been stolen at Orepunga. The matter had been placed in the hands of the police. New Connections The total number of new service lines and submains connected during the month was 82, while additions were made to 33 others.
