BOWLERS MEET

THE HIKUTAIA CLUB TRIBUTES TO SECRETARY SUBSCRIPTION MAY BE RAISED There was a fair attendance of members of the Hikutaia Bowling Club at the annual meeting which was held in the club’s pavilion. The chairman, Mr A. R. Robinson, in welcoming the members expressed the hope that the coming year would be as successful as the past years. The report dealt with the doings of the past year while the balance sheet disclosed the club to be in quite a sound position. Officers Elected The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr Robinson; vice-presi-dent, Mr E. Elliot; secretary, Mi’ R. W. Lowry; committee, Messrs A. Euth, J. Baird, G. Avery, L. Revill and M. R. Morrison; delegate to south Auckland and Goldfields Bowling’ Associations, Mr W. K. Morrison. On the motion of Mr Avery it was unanimously resolved to place on record the valuable services rendered to the club by the retiring secretary, Mr I. M. Robinson. Several members spoke of the untiring efforts of Mr Robinson for years past in keeping in touch with members and rendering yeoman service to the club. The motion was carried by acclamation.

■ In replying to the vote Mr Robinson stated that the work had always been a pleasure to him and during the 14 years he had held the position he had always endeavoured to do his best for the members and the club in general. He had always found the members willing to co-operate with the club’s activities and that, he felt, was always compensation for his efforts. Opening Day

It was suggested to the committee that the opening day of the bowling, tennis and croquet clubs be held on either October 22 or 29.

In view of the rising cost the matter of raising the subscription to the original figure was discussed. The president expressed his pleasure at the enthusiasm of the meeting and said that he would. continue to do his best for the coming season.
