Magistrate’s Court. The sitting of the Paeroa Magistrate’s Court originally set down for to-day has been postponed for a fortnight and will be held on September 24. Plains Buildings. Eight building permits had been issued during August, reported the Hauraki Plains County Council’s engineer, Mr E. Hazledine-Barber, to the council on Wednesday. The estimated value of the buildings amounted to £1239. Housing Survey. ■ A report submitted on the recent housing survey in Paeroa was submitted to the borough council last evening by the town clerk, Mr R. S. Nicol. It will be published in full on the building page of the Gazette on Wednesday. Building Permit. The building committee of the Paeroa Borough Council reported last evening that one application for a permit had been received. W. Marshall was authorised to make alterations to an office in Normanby road owned by Mr C. N. O’Neill. The value of the. permit was £230.

Pedigree Sale.

A combined sale of pedigree Jersey bulls on account of Mrs M. A. Rogers, Mr M. N. Trotter and Mr E. Hofmann will be held at Katikati on Monday. The offering will contain approximately 50 head, comprising four herd sires, nine two-year-olds and the balance yearlings.

Unsightly Garage.

A protest against the erection of a motor garage on a property at the Railway Settlement, Paeroa, made of straightened-out bitumen drums was entered by the borough council last evening. The council had no control over such buildings in the settlement but it was decided to communicate with the district engineer for the Railways Department. Paeroa Bull Fair. The Thames Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club will conduct its annual spring bull fair at the Paeroa saleyards on Friday, September 24, at 11 a.m. Fifty-one pedigree Jersey bulls will be offered, including well-grown herd sires. Catalogues may be obtained from the Gazette office or from the secretary, Mr Chas. Townshend. Ohinemuri Valuations. In view of the position of the Ohinemuri county arising out of the Assessment Court decisions in the matter of the valuation objections there the chairman, Mr Wm. Marshall, suggested yesterday that the department should' be asked to make a re-valua-tion this year in order to overcome the anomalies known to exist. This course was agreed to by the council. Kerepeehi Domain. The Hauraki Plains County Council’s noxious weeds inspector, Mr W. Chapman, reported on Wednesday that during the past month he had visited 101 farms but owing to the weather not much progress was being made. He had spent 15 days on the Kerepeehi reserve where rushes had been dug, fences repaired and general drainage work had been carried out.

Quarry Output.

In reply to Cr. J. F. Mayn at Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council the engineer, Mr E. Hazledine-Barber, said that the greatest amount of metal crushed in one day at the North road quarry had been 111 cubic yards on a 12-hour shift. A 16-hour day had been instituted this month but so far, owing to the wet weather, results had not been up to expectations. The metal had been too wet to crush.

Police Supervision?

At the conclusion of business before the Thames Licensing Committee at the quarterly meeting held in Thames on Tuesday, the chairman, Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., said the fact that there had been no prosecutions in respect to licensees during the last quarter and only one in respect of the public, was a matter for congratulation.
