WEDDING

ROBERTS—THOMPSON. A pretty wedding took place on Saturday, August 28, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Paeroa, when Florence May, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs B. Thompson of Taumarunui, was married to Reginald William (Bruce), second son of Mr and Mrs R. I. Roberts of Paeroa. The Rev. Heslop of Te Arolia performed the marriage ceremony. The organist was Miss C. Keller.

The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride with camelias in shades of pink and white, a large floral wedding bell being suspended over the bridal party. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her father wore a graceful gown of heavy magnolia satin beaute. The bodice was long and tight fitting, being fastened at the back with a row of tiny satin buttons. The skirt was fully flared falling to form- a long train. Her hand-embroidered tulle veil was arranged with a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of freesias and maiden hair fern. In attendance were her two sisters as bridesmaids, Miss Thelma Thompson (chief) and Miss Doreen Thompson. They were dressed alike in frocks of pastel blue georgette, their full skirts being inset with godets of lace. Bandeaux of blue flowers were worn on their heads and they carried bouquets of pale pink stock. The two flower girls, Rona Thompson (sister of the bride) and Norma Roberts (sister of the bridegroom), wore pastel pink georgette cut on the same lines as those of the bridesmaids. They also wore bandeaux of pink roses and carried posies of primroses and for-get-me-nots to tone with their frocks. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin, Mr F. Roberts of Taneatua, as best man and Mr I. McDonald, of Paeroa, as groomsman.

On leaving the church the bride was presented with a satin horseshoe by Joanie Matheson.

A reception was afterwards held in the Centenary Hall, Mrs Thompson, mother of the bride, received the guests wearing a model frock of navy floral georgette and hat to tone. Her bouquet was of daffodils and blue hyacinths.

The bridegroom’s mother wore a brown tunic suit with fur trimmings and hat to match and carried a bouquet of iceland poppies. When Mr and Mrs Roberts left later by car for the north, the bride was wearing a tailored brown costume with brown stole and hat and accessories to match.
