VETERINARY CLUB
NGATEA FARMERS MEETING SURGEON’S NUMBER OF VISITS. The committee of the Ngatea Farmers’ Veterinary Club met at Ngatea on Wednesday evening. Present: Messrs C. W. Schultz, chairman; J. Spence, W. Laurence, W. Jones, G. Phillips, E. Cole, R. Burke, and the secretary, Mr R. Baxter. Four new members were admitted to the club, bringing the total membership up to 109. The surgeon, Mr T. A. Aris, reported having spent a very busy month. Eighty visits were paid, as compared with 58 for August last year. November held the highest number of visits, 78, in 1936. It was strongly recommended at the meeting that club members should show more consideration towards the surgeon, especially in the matter of night calls. If these were absolutely necessary, the animal should be brought up at least to the shed if possible. Farmers should give all assistance to the surgeon to ensure a better, faster job. The financial statement showed that £222 3s 9d had been banked since” April 1. In the past month £5B 10s had been received and banked. Accounts to the amount of £45 4s lid were passed for payment.
