MR DALBETH DEPARTS PRESENTATIONS MADE THE AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION. Presentations to Constable C. Dalbeth, who left this morning on promotion to Akaroa, were made by his fellow police officers in the district and by ambulance members last evening. Mr Dalbeth has been in Paeroa I for nearly six years and has actively identified himself with the ambulance movement in the town. He will be in sole charge of his new station. Members of the executive of the St. John Ambulance Association and members of the brigade met at his residence, Mr E. Edwards presiding in the absence of the president, Mr Wm. Marshall, from whom an apology was received. Expressing regret at Mr Dalbeth’s departure and appreciation of the work he had done, particularly in raising funds for the brigade, Mr Edwards stated that Mr Dalbeth had been the driving force behind raising money by dances, bobby calf drives and an art union. He had also played his part as a citizen of the town in assisting willingly other activities. Mr Edwards congratulated him upon his promotion and wished him and Mrs Dalbeth the "best in the future. Superintendent W. Smith, on behalf of the brigade, made the presentation of a very handsome chiming clock with an inscribed silver plate affixed. The regularity with which Mr Dalbeth had attended the classes, he stated, was an inspiration to other members and an incentive to carry on his work. In reply Mr Dalbeth stated that what he had done for the brigade and the association has been a labour of love and any assistance he or his wife had been had given them much pleasure. Constable A. J. Maiden presented Mr Dalbeth. with a smoker’s companion on behalf of the Paeroa, Kerepeehi and Waihi police force members. He referred to the conscientious manner in which Mr Dalbeth had always performed his duties. Over a long association with the police force, said MiMaiden, he had not worked with a more conscientious or diligent officer. Mr B. Gwilliam presented to Miss S. Dalbeth an ambulance kit and a reference from the superintendent as recognition of her work for the brigade. The health of the departing guests was drunk with musical honours.
