ANNUAL REPORT FOR 1937 GOOD FINANCIAL POSITION. The Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s annual report was submitted fo the an- - nual meeting on Monday evening by the chairman of the committee, Mr P. E. Brenan, as follows: The stakes provided for the last race meeting amounted to £3927, an increase of £652 over the previous year. The racing provided was of a high standard, and with fine weather on both days the meeting was even more successful than the previous year. The totalisator handled £63,070 10s, an increase of £11,998 over 1936, and an 'increase of £31,980 10s over that of 1935. The receipts for the year totalled £13,751 17s 6d, being an increase of £2496 17s over the previous year. The expenditure, of which £5403 went in Government taxation, amounted to £11,977 3s 2d, leaving a surplus of £1774 14s. 4d. The racecourse property and buildings have been well maintained, and the tracks have been kept in good order. Members’ Stand. The committee accepted a tender last March for a members’ stand but shortly after work was started a gale blew over the framework erected, and the committee then decided to cancel the contract and to have fresh plans and specifications prepared by Mr Norman Wade of Auckland. These have been approved and it is hoped to start work immediately after the Taumarunui meeting. The Taumarunui meeting, held on October 3 and 5, proved highly successful in every way, and out of the profits amounting to £2300 the sum of £2OOO was received by the Taumarunui club, and £230 by this club, while a balance of about £75 remains in the bank. The Balance Sheet. The principal items of revenue, -totalling £13,751 17s 6d, were: Privileges £778 8s 10d, totalisator £10,015 3s, gates £917 17s, nominations and acceptances £9Ol 10s, subscriptions £lO53s 4d, farm account £216 19s 4d, Tau- . marunui meeting £230. . Expenditure included: Stakes £3927 ;0s 7d, levies and donations £234 8s 3d, ■ entertainment £lB2 19s 9d, salaries and wages £6ll 10s sd, rates and taxes .£lB4 18s, maintenance and repairs .-£556 12s, totalisator tax £5281 Ils 4d, .depreciation £4OO, leaving a profit of -£1774 14s 4d.
