FOUR DAYS’ RACING

OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB POSSIBILITY IN SIGHT PERMIT FROM TAUMARUNUI. “Given fine weather in October we hope to fulfil our obligations to the Taumarunui Racing Club and, provided no departure is made from the agreement we made with the Taumarunui club, the permit should revert to us,” revealed the chairman, Mr P. E. Brenan, of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club in a statement made to the annual meeting held on Monday evening. “That would give us four days of racing each year,” Mr Brenan continued,” and the club would then be in a position to improve the stakes offered, increase the privileges, extend the appointments and improve the tracks. The liabilities of the Taumarunui club were approximately £l4OO and he asked members to assist the committee at the October meeting in keeping the expenses down as far as possible so that that debt could be liquidated.
