CAR IN DRAIN
SKID ON PLAINS ROAD PASSENGERS’ SLIGHT INJURIES. Another accident of a type that unfortunately is very common on the Hauraki Plains,* cars falling into the drains, occurred about 7 p.m. on Sunday, when a Willys-Knight sedan car, owned and driven by a Maori, Jack Taupaki, of Penrose, Auckland, ’ who was returning from Awaiti, skidded in the heavy metal near Rawe Rawe cornei* on the Ngatea-Pipiroa Road, and capsized into the roadside drain, which at this point is very deep and has steep sides. Although there were several passengers the only injuries suffered were minor bruises. The car received severe damage to the top and right side, and was later extricated by the Hauraki Plains Motors’ wrecking crane.
