HOCKEY.
THAMES-HAURAKI ASSN. THE ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Thames-Hauraki Hockey Association last week the following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P.; president, Mr P. Jensen; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. E. Hale, J. Cartwright, P. C. Taylor, J. H. Nicholson (Kerepeehi); secretary afid treasurer, Mr R. Hall; selector and match manager, Mr H. P. Donkin; committee, one member from each club. In his report for the past year the president, Mr P. Jensen, congratulated Kerepeehi, who had been fortunate again in winning the Gage-Brown Cup. In outside matches the Thames representatives had defeated Mt. Eden and Waihi, but reverses were suffered against Waikato at ’ Hamilton and Piako at Te Aroha. A team which visited Auckland during Country Week, had run very close to the present holders of the White Horse Cup, and the hope was entertained, that next time Thames would win it outright. In wishing the Association every success for the forthcoming year, the president stated that hockey was becoming more and more popular throughout the district, while the game was regarded with much enthusiasm by the players and keen rivalry was displayed among the club teams in competition matches. The balance-sheet disclosed a small credit balance. It was resolved to open the season on May 4 with two rounds for the Gage-Brown Cup. The closing date for entries was fixed for the preceding Saturday. It was decided to hold a six-a-side tournament towards the end of May. —Star.
