On another page of this paper is an article from the pen of Mr W. P. Foster, late of the literary staff of the “Gazette,” but now in an important executive post with the Polson Model Dairy at Anand, Bombay Presidency, India. It is entitled “A Peep at India, Through the Eyes bf a New Zealand Woman,” and it was written in this form as it was .sent to be read at a meeting of a Women’s Institute in New Zealand, in fulfilment of a promise for such an article. The sale of poppies in Paeroa on Wednesday last resulted in the collection of approximately £2O which is about the same as last year. Complete returns are not yet to hand. Readers are reminded that summertime will end on Sunday next, April 28th, at 2 a.m. and that clocks should be put back to standard time oh or before that hour. Prospects for the opening of the shooting season on Wednesday next are reported to be very favourable. Grey duck are said to be more numerous than in recent years and the heavy rains in the past few days are expected to improve the sport in the swamps, which had been fairly dry on .account of the hot summer. From the Talisman Dubbo gold mine 58S tons of ore were treated at the Golden Dawn battery for an actual realisation of £419. < Negotiations are in hand, according to information 'received at a Plains local body meeting, for the sale of the triangular section of land at Kerepeehi corner between Wharepoa and Wairau Roads, which has been mentioned on many occasions as a probable new 7 site for the Kerepeehi Hotel. The annual meeting of the Ohinemuri Acclimatisation Club, called for last Saturday evening, lapsed for want of a quorum.
