VALEDICTORY.

TURUA SCHOOL TEACHERS.

Last Thursday afternoon, a large number of parents and pupils met at the Turua School to bid farewell to two of the teachers, Miss Widdup, who has been transferred to ■ the Thames Central School, and to Mr W. F. Bush, who is under transfer to a sole-charge school. On behalf of the children, the headmaster, Mr H. Vause, presented Miss Widdup with a bedroom clock. In doing so he said that Miss Widdup had been at the Turua school for over four years, and all connected with the school were sorry to lose her, as during that time she had endeared herself to all the pupils, both young and old, and had taken a' keen interest in their welfare both in school, and out.

The presentation of a fountain pen was made to Mr Bush by Mr Vause, who said that during the year that he had’ been with him at Turua he had proved a very capable teacher, who had always taken an interest in his pupils. He would be especially missed by the boys, as he had always taken a part in all the school games. Miss Widdup and Mr Bush thanked all for their kindness and good wishes and all present joined in singing “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” Three hearty cheers were given, then three special cheers given by the girls for Miss Widdup and by the boys for Mr Bush.
