REPAIRING LARGE PUNCTURES.

When patching a fairly long slit or a big gash in an inner tube it is difficult to prevent the rubber solution from passing through the silt on to the opposite inner side of the tube, so that when the patch is pressed into position there is the risk of the two sides of the tube sticking together. This difficulty can be overcome by slipping a piece of paper through the slit and holding it in position by squeezing the sides of the tube together, whilst the solution is applied. The paper should remain in the tube until the solution is tacky and the patch about to be applied. It can then be pulled out, rlthough there is no real harm in leaving the paper in the tube.
