lIAI’RAKI ASSOCIATION. FIRST MATCHES COMPLETED. The second innings of the three matches begun on the previous Saturday, under the control of the Hauraki Plains Association, were completed on Saturday last. On the Pipiroa Domain Pipiroa met Mnramnrqa, and Waitakaruru met Kopuarnhi. Kerepeehi played sit Kaihere. Weather at Pipiroa was ideal at the beginning of the afternoon, though later in the day heavy clouds overcast the sky, and a continual rumble of thunder announced the approach of a storm which, however, did not break in earnest until after all games were completed. With only five wickets to fall, the Pipiroa-Maramarua match was first completed. The previous week Pipiroa had established a lead of 29 at Maramarua in the first innings, and the home team in the second innings had lost five wickets for 34, leaving the team with 45 to make on Saturday afternoon to save an innings defeat. These five wickets, which stood for a little over half an hour, contributed another 34, giving Pipiroa an outright win by eleven runs. The teams then carried on with, a one innings practice match, Pipiroa (64),

defeating Maramarua (57) by seven runs. The second gam?, played on the Domain, saw the tables reversed on Waitakaruru. With 29 runs in hand, the latter team seemed fairly sure for a victory over Kopuarahi, but the collapse of some of the early batsmen for a few runs gave the game an uncertain turn. Kopuarahi, batting first, overtook the margin of 29, and thanks to McMillan (38) put on a lead of 45 runs. Waitakaruru, however. were unable to reach this figure, the last wicket falling with the total at 34, giving Kopuarahi a win by eleven runs. Playing the second innings of their match with Kaihcre. Kerepeehi. three runs behind from last week’s game, dismissed the home team for 52, leaving them 55 runs in the lead. With only two wickets down. Kerepeehi passed this total and continued to make 101 for the ten wicket«. giving them a win by 49 inns. or. accoifling strictly to rules, a win by eight wickets. Thus Pipiroa, Kerepeehi. and Kopuarahi stand equal until next Saturday. HIKUTAIA V. WHAREPOA. During the week end the Hikutaia Cricket Club’s team played a Wharepoa eleven, the match ending in a draw as it was not completed. The scores were as follows: — Hikutaia. First Inningi'E.
