RADIO BROADCASTING.
LETTER FROM AMERICA. INSUFFICIENTLY ADDRESSED. Some time ago a well-known Timaru broadcasting enthusiast heard a musical programme from a Mexican station, when he was greatly impressed with the way it came through, and thinking it would be of interest to those responsible to know that the programme had been picked up in New Zealand, he communicated with the station. He has just received a reply, the letter' bearing the address: “Mr , Simaree, Nueva Zelanda, Oceania.” When the letter reached Wellington a postal ■ official immediately wrote, “Tfy Timaru,” and on arrival there another official wrote on the envelop “Try Ranfurly Street,” where it was without delay delivered to the gentleman for whom it was intended, the incident being another demonstration of the efficiency of the Post Office. The full text of the letter is as under: “We wish to thank you for your letter of May 24th, which we received tc-day. I can say that we were more surprised to hear from you than were you when you heard our music. Words fail me to voice our appreciation and surprise, but this much I can say: you made yourself a flock of friends by writing that letter. The same goes for the snapshots, which I will keep personally. We receive many letters in English from the U.S.A: and Canada, but for yours the distance is outstanding, and, therefore, was translated to the complete' staff and all were happy over it. We were too glad to delay the answer to you, and just used what we had on hand for - a prompt reply, paper and typewriter, but should you also be interested in photographs of Mexican scenery or find any other reason to write us again, be herewith assured of a cordial answer.”
