SUCCESSFUL CONCERT.

NGATEA GUIDE TROOP. VARIETY PROGRAMME. ’ The concert given at Ngatea on Friday evening last by the Ngatea Girl ' Guide Troop proved as great an at- ’ traction as that recently given in aid of the Dental Clinic. The proceeds , of the concert are to be devoted to a fund for the building of a club room. A variety programme was presented and the stage was very prettily decorated for the occasion with willow and wattle wands and festoons of spring flowers. For the plays the stage scenery was converted to represent a room. The 'National Anthem opened the concert and the first item following was a camp fire song by the troop. Other items were as follows: Flag Drill (Guides E. Hayward, N. Darington and B. Trevelyan); song, “Three Green Bonnets” (Guides M. McClean, J. Wilkins, C. Sparrow); dance, .Guide J. McDuff; recitation, “Father’s Chicken,” Guide B. Rowling; play, “Behind the Scenes,” the leading characters being Guides J. Wheeler, O. Clark, J. Wilkins, M. McClean, D. Dudding and D. Hayward; duet, Guider Miss Gray and Guide M. Waite; skipping dance, Guides C. Sparrow, and E. Marchant; Swing Song, Guides M. Waite, R. Rowling, F. Young, J. Wheeler, O. Clark, E. CoOk and L. Gribble; recitation, “The Minister Comes to Tea,” Guide L. Gribble; play, “What Does it All Mean,” chief characters being “Guiders Gray and D. Dudding, and Guides D. Hayward, J. Wilkins, J. McDuff and M. Burke. The programme was concluded with the singing of “Taps.” At the conclusion of the programme Guider Gray thanked the people for their attendance and those who had assisted her and the troop to make the function a success. The Guides then presented her with a beautiful bouquet. Supper followed the concert an,d the floor was cleared for dancing, which continued until a late hour. The concert was very successful from a financial point of view; over £lO being cleared. -
