NGATEA. ' . CARD AFTERNOON. There was not so good an attendance as usual at the Ngatea Women’s Institute Card afternoon on Wednesday last, but nevertheless the afternoon passed off very successfully and pleasantly. The flag 500 tournament was won by Mrs Coppins, ■ Mrs Cook, Mrs E. Costello and Mrs Olsen. In the competitions, novelty golf was won by Miss Coppings. Mrs Jackson and Miss McClune tied for the anvertisemeni guessing competition, while Miss McClune carried off the prize for table croquet. Invitations have been received, from Waitakaruru and Netherton to functions to be held by those Institutes. At Waitakaruru on Thursday next (27th instant), an open evening is to be held, and all members of ’ other Institutes are invited to attend, bringing along husbands or gentlemen friends. , , The ■ function at Netherton is , for Institute members only' and wiL take the f- rm of celebrations- on th; 'occasion of the first anniversary of the Jnrtitite. The function has been : rranged for the evening of September Ise. •'
