POLITICAL LEAGUE. .. ■ , f FORMATION ON PLAINS. A’ meeting of those interested in the formation of a branch of the Country Political League on the Plains was held at Kerepeehi on Wednesday j evening last, and attracted a very good attendance. This is the second meeting held for the same purpose, but the first one . was rot the success that had been unanticipated. An executive was elected consisting of Messrs C. W. Schultz, H. F. I.ouch, F. Kneebohe, G F. Pearce, W. Me- ; Innis,' A. Wheeler, C. Kneebone, R. ' Rowling, W. Benny, A. Alach, ( J. Bennett, with power tb add to the number. , ? The secretary was instructed to write to the Auckland branch, asking for particfilars of the branched in the Thames electorate and asking for sug-gtsUous-for a candidate to congest the seat. ■ It was also decided to ask Captain Rushworth, or failing him a substitute, to visit the chief centres of the electorate with a view to Appointing a candidate and forming an electoral executive. ’‘ ‘ , The’meeting decided to’write to the four larges't Farmers’ Unions in theelectorate, namely, Matatok:, Mercury Bay, Colville, and Netherton, and ask them for information concerning theninterest and efforts towards the formation of a Country Political , League in the Thames electorate.
