PERSONAL.
Miss L. R. H. Roberts has been, appointed sole teacher at the Waitawheta School. Mr. A. E. Wade, of Hopai, Ngatea, and his family left on Tuesday morning to reside near Te Puke. . Mr. Thomas Kenny is expected to return to Paeroa from Wellington tomorrow morning. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Kemp, of Cambridge,' have been spending a short holiday in Ngatea, aftei* a trip to Nelson. Mr. George Death, of Netherlon, and Mr. Norman Death, Kopuarahi, are expected to return from Taranaki to-morrow. Mr. L. (“Terry”) Masters has accepted a position in New Plymouth, and will leave Paeroa in the course of a day or so to take up his new duties. It is pleasing to be able to state that the Right Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa, is steadily recovering from his recent operations. He was out for a short walk for the first time on Friday (says “The Rotorua Chronicle”). Mr. R. P. Ward, Under-Secretary of the Justice Department, has been appointed Acting-Commissioner of Police pending Cabinet’s, selection of a successor to Mr. W. B, Mcllveney. The appointment, according to the Minister of Justice, is a temporary one only. It is held in usually well informed circles that the vacant position will be offered to one of the eligible officers at present in the Police Force.
