HOCKEY.
COUNTRY WEEK TOUKNAMENT.. LOCAL PLAYERS AT AUCKLAND. The annual ladies’ hockey competition for the Auckland Provincial Clip opened at Remuera on Monday. After a match of Possibles v. Probables had been’ played at W-aihi, Paeroa gained the distinction of having three players, namely. Misses V. Shand, A. F. Morlapd. and P. Pivott, chosen to travel with the Waihi representative team, which left for Auckland on Saturday last. On Monday a keen match was played between Franklin West and Waihi, the- former team winning by a narrow margin. Franklin West score-d 4 goals t°> Waihi’s 3, one of the latter being netted by Miss Morland.
In the B section fclauraki Plains (Miss P/eavor 2) drew with Franklin Bast 2..
The competition was continued yesterday, when Whakatane- 10, defeated Waihi ft, and Tauranga 3 defeated Hauraki. Plains 1 (Miss Heaver).; The draw for the local Learns to-day is Auckland A v. Waihi, and Rotorua V. Hau raki Plains.
