At Monday night’s meeting of the committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union a resolution df sympathy with tiie widow and sons of the late Mr C. H. Ladner was carried in silence. Mr J. M. The Piako County Council has been informed by the Public Works Department that the Mangaiti bridge across the Waihou River is in a very bad condition and is no.w unsafe for heavy traffic. The cost of a new bridge would be £9oo'o, allocated as l follows : Waihou and Ohinemuri Improvement Scheme, £2400; Ohinemuri County Council, £2200 ; Piako County Council, £2200.

A Victorian lady, a Mrs Moore, of Melbourne, died recently in England, leaving a personal estate valued a.t £78,187. After providing for various' bequests and legacies, totalling about £BOOO she left the residue, of her estate to Dr. Crossley, formerly Bishop of Auckland. As Bishop Crossley died in the lady’s lifetime, a codicil was. added to the. will directing that his widow should take his share in the estate.
