HORSES FOR SYDNEY.
EH TIMI AND SCAT SHIPPED. LOCAL OWNERS’ ENTERPRISE. The well-known local racehorses Eh Timi and Scat, owned by Messrs W. M. Sorensen, Paeroa, and P. Corbett, Hikutaia, respectively; leaye Auckland for Sydney by the Ulimarog this afternoon. Mr J. W. Cathro, trrijiner, and Gif. Spinks arc accompanying the horses.
On arrival at Sydney the party will be met by M. McCarten, the wellknown New Zealand jockey. It is proposed to make. Kensington, near Sydney, the headquarters, a.nd the horses will be put into active training almost straight away.
In conversation with Mr Sorensen yesterday it was learned that the underlying feature in shipping the horses to Australia was the fact that the tracks were drier there than in the Dominion at this time of the year, a.nd the. horses could be kept in training with less effort, and at a not very much greater expense. Mr Sorensen modestly tedded that there was also the speculative element that the horses “might pick up a small race or two.”
This is probably the first time that a Paeroa sportsman has shipped a racehorse to Australia, and turf patrons abroad, as well as locally, will wish the two owners every success in their venture.
