RUAWARO CAMP
PREPARATIONS FOR WINTER. The single men’s camp at Ruawaro has been shifted this week from its old site on the edge of a swamp to a new site on a terrace at the foot of a hill further up the valley. This site is dry, well drained, and well sheltered from the cold southerlies. It is a good site for a winter camp. The tents will be provided with fire places so that the men can make themselves comfortable on the cold nights. Plenty of fire wood is dug out of the drain, and can be carried to the camp in the evening. A drying room for the men’s clothes was to be provided; but may not be necessary now the tents have chimneys. Owing to the exertions of the Rev. Bush-King, the men have been supplied with 40 blankets and other necessities. Reading matter has also been sent from both Huntly and Ngaruawr.hia. There is still much to ba done by the public to make these men comfortable for the winter and it is to bo hoped that their claims will not be overlooked.
