ST. ANTHONY'S CHURCH

C SUCCESSFUL DANCE St. Anthony’s Church Committee held a most successful dance and card party in the Town Hall on Thursday evening last, in aid of the Convent Building Fund. There was a good attendance and an enjoyable time was spent. Popular music was supplied by Reg. Morgan’s orchestra from Auckland. During the evening several novelty dances were held, the winners of the Monte Carlo waltz being Miss J. Thompson and Mr. N. Bossad, while the spot dance was won by Mr R. Berry and partner. The winners of the tulip dance were Miss Wilson (Taupiri) and partner. The fire screen was won by Mr N. Hedley, the -table centre by Miss Aileen Markey (Auckland), while the tray cloth was won by Mr N. Stewart. Among those present were:— Mrs T. Raye, peach chenille georgette; Mrs B. Miss May O’Brien, black crepe de chine and lace coatee; Miss Edna Fairhurst, mauve satin; Miss D. Sefton, jade moire silk; Miss F. Hedley, rose shot taffeta, ankle length; Miss G. Taylor, rose pink crepe de chine and lace; Miss O. Johnson, lemon crepe de chine; Miss J. Hodgson, floral ninon; Miss A. Byrne, green taffeta; Miss E. Whitaker, black lace and cream lace bridge coat; Miss Martha Hulse, rose pink georgette, ankle length; Miss I. Lancaster, black satin beaute and shell-pink trimmings; Miss M. Harker (Hamilton), vieux rose satin; Miss M. O’Dea. black crepe de chine; Miss Rita Lanigan, blue net; Miss E. Sefton, floral pink georgette.
