Tennis.

Owing to the weather experienced last week, and the sodden state of the court on Saturday morning last, the opening of the Tennis Courts for the season was postponed until tomorrow.

Contrary to expectations the courts dried very fas and by two o’clock one was in good playing order. A few enthusists had gathered in the hopes of getting a game, and they were amply rewarded. v The new nets made a great difference in the play, which on the whole was of a very good order for the start of the season.

The opening will if weather permits, take place to-morrow, the ladies will dispense afternoon tea, and a good afternoon’s sport is expected. BOWLING AND CROQUET The opening of the Bowling and Croquet lawns has been much delayed this year on account of bad weather, and difficulty of getting the greens in order.

The Bowling Green had gone eut of level a little, and in consequent the top dressing in places was a little thick, so thick indeed, that the grass failed to conic through for some time. The Croquet Lawn, too, had to bo top dressed, but this was done

on dilierent lines, and instead of setting the grass back, it helped it considerably, so that this green is now in very fair or ler, and play can be commenced at any time.

It is expected that play will commence on both greens almost immediately, and that the opening will he fixed for an early date.
