FOUR CHARGED

AUCKLADN, December 6
Charged with publishing a subversive statement at Auckland, yesterday, four men, arrested last night, appeared at the Police Court, to-day. They were Phillip Leslie Hardcastle. 32, a carpenter; Herbert Henry Swann, 31, a carpenter; Henry Joseph Hurman, 39, a carpenter; Alev Silverman. 27, a cabinetmaker. The charge sheet stated all were born in England. Detective-Sergeant Walsh said these men pasted stickers on telegraph poles and other places, advising that no mom troops should go overseas. Othei alleged subversive literature was also found in their possession. Ho asked for a remand to December 16th. Julius and Hogben asked for bail. Magistrate Moiling granted the remand and allowed bail, each on tbeii own recognisance ol £IOO, or equivalent sureties.
