Primary schools under the control of the Canterbury Education Board will conclude their school year for 1940 on December 19, and will begin the 1941 .sesson on February 4.

In the House of Representatives today Mr James O’Brien (Westland), asked the Minister of Public Works if he will take into consideration the keeping in existence of the public works camp at Paringa, on the main south road, Westland. He also said it has been reported that the engineering staff, men and material are being removed from the Paringa section of the road, and that as some important public works will be completed in the near future, the necessity of finding work for tho men employed thereon is apparent. Further, the removal of men and material adds considerably to the cost of the work, and the speedy completion of this important national work is most desirable..
