SOVIET & HITLER.
A RUSSIAN REFUSAL
(United Press Association—By Electric. Telegraph —Gopyr ight).
LONDON, December 3
Russia has refused, to enter into any of the major commitments proposed by Herr Hitler in his talks with the Soviet Foreign Commissar (M. Molotov) states the diplomatic correspondent of th e “Daily Herald.” The Soviet is not interested in any aggressive adventures in the Persian Gulf or elsewhere. She considers the extension of her frontiers into Finland, Poland, and Rumania, and the incorporation of the Baltic States as necessary for strategic reasons.
M. Molotov told Herr Hitler that Russia wa s not interested in spheres of influence, but that she was interested in spheres of security.
Most important of all, Russia wishes to prevent the extension of the war in the Balkans, particularly to Turkey.
Herr Hitler, it is understood, hinted that lie would welcome a withdrawal or a lessening in the Russian forces on the frontiers of Germany and German occupied .territories, but M. Molotov intimated, that he was not prepared to discuss that.
