THE INVASION
HITLER IN FRANCE READY FOR ATTACK, (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right). LONDON, September 14. The “Sunday Express” says: Herr Hitler lias arrived at the new Invasion Headquarters in Northern France. He also has invited German and neutral journalists to assemble on the Frenqh coast to witness “the greatest spectacle of the ages—the invasion ol England.” Reich Marshal Goering is also at the advanced Air Force headquarters, but the order to invade is still unissued,.{.and a strange new propaganda ,is circulating in Berlin that, after ail, an invasion may not lie necessary.
The German official quarters are using the argument that Britain can be brought- to her knees "by the destruction of iier economic life through air raids and the blockade.
GERMAN ESTIMATE
BERLIN. September 14
An official spokesman said: “About 2000 tons of bombs have been dropped in London during the week. The Luft Wale can well be satisfied with the results. .London must now choose .between the fate of Warsaw or that of Paris. The Weather, once England’s :ally, lias become her enemy. “It- is conservatively estimated that .24 big London docks were burned to the ground last week. Despite the denials, the foodstuffs -are running short. The so-called voluntary evacuation is steadily growing. It is straining its transport system, which is already disorganised. London's armament industry has been reduced to a fraction of its former output. i
“The docks, including the Canada Dock,' and the area westward of the West India Dock's, were heavily bombed last night. The German pilots are all agreed that there lias been a reorganisation of London’s aircraft defences, but the restriction of the' searchlights has helped them.
A FRENCH REPORT. LONDON, September 14
The Vichy correspondent of the. British United Press says: It is reliably stated that the R.A.F., which is hammering German shipping concentrations and ports in the Channel and North Sea, are now much more accurate than the Luft Waffe. The- British Fleet Air Force is reported to he keeping up the 24-hour attack on German shipping at ports in Norway, Holland, Belgium and France. Tremendous destruction is reported, particularly at Dunkirk, Calais, and Boulogne. Several supply ships were set on ’fire at Le Havre. Great fires arc reported on the French coast between Boulogne and Dunkirk. ‘British bombers also attacked convoys, small boats, pontoons, and barges moving down the Channel, hugging the Belgian and French coasts. There is every indication that British air activity has doubled in intensity in the past 48 hours, and is now enormously in excess of the Germans. AN AMERICAN REPORT. JERSEY CITY, September 13. Dr Charles F. Bove, bead surgeon of due American Hospital in Paris, on his arrival from Franie, said that the Germans had already attempted—and failed —several times to invade England at different points.
