CLIPPER AT CANTON ISLAND

HONOLULU-, July 15.

The American clipper arrived at Canton Island at 7.5 -p.m. Honolulu time.

DUE ON THURSDAY (Per Press Association —Copyright). AUCKLAND, July 15. ' By covering the distance of 1315 miles between Honolulu and Canton Island to-day, the Pan-American Airwayps’ giant American Clipper completed the second stage of her 8,000mile -flight from San Francisco to Auckland.

The American Clipper left Honolulu at 5 a.m. New Zealand time, and she reached Canton Island at 5.5 p.m. New Zealand time.

The flight will be continued to Noumea to-morrow', and the flying-boat will reach Auckland at about 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, after laying over for a day at Noumea. There were twenty-five passengers to be carried by the- Clipper to Canton Island. Eleven passengers disembarked there. The remaining fourteen passengers are travelling on to New' Zealand. There is a crew of ten on the Cooper . Two of the, through passengers are Mr W. Miller and Mr F. Stevens, both of w’hom are representatives of the United States Civil Aearonaut.ical Authority. Pan American Company officials making the trip include Colonel C. Young, the Pacific Dbi.i >n Manager of the Company, and M r Harold Gatty, the New Zealand representative, who. is accompanied by Mrs Gatty.

Other employees of the coippan/ aboard are Messrs T. T. Rams.>v. G Ancns, K. Morris, G. Gardner, F. Laidtaw, and M. Thompson. The lastnamed will be stationed at Auckland. The remaining passengers for Auckland are Messrs L. Ash well, W. Frank and D. Cornwall, all of the United States.

LEAVES FOR NOUMEA HONOLULU, Julv 15. The American Clipper loft Canton Island at 7.4 a.m. for Noumea and expects to require from eleven to twelve hours to complete the journey.
