PRODUCE PERMITS
NEW REGULATIONS (Per Press Association—Copyright). PARLIAMENT BLDGS., July 11, A notice published in this week’s Gazette brings the industry of ‘‘the retail sale of fresh fruit and fresh vegetables” within the, provisions of Section 23 of the Industrial .Efficiency Act. It provides .that no person shall without the authority of the Bureau of Industry and Commerce carry on the above-described industry without having first given the Bureau at least onp month’s notice, in writing, of his intention to do so. The a r.ing-Alinister <pf' Industries and Commerce, Hon. W. Wilson, in a statement, said that he desired to make it clear that no person not at present engaged as a principal iri the fruit retailing or vegetable retailing industry could commence, whether he was taking over an established business or setting up a new business, without obtaining the permission of the Bureau of Industry in writing. The Bureau of Industry bad. for some time, been considering certain of various problems relating to fruit retailers throughout.: tlur Domin/Vm, but the investigations proceeding had not been completed.
