WRESTLING

McCREADY BEATS PINDER. (Per Press Association —Copyright). AUCKLAND, September 25. Forced to use bis superior strength to offset the speed and versatility ot bis opponent, the British Empire wrestling champion, FaiT lucvU’oady, was fully extended in retaining his title against a challenge from Prince lUiu Finder. For the greater part of the contest McCready had difficulty in coping with the elusive Indian, and it was only in the seventh round, when lie resorted to fore-arm jolts, that he subdued Pinder sufficiently to take the only fall of the match. BLOMFIELD DEFEATS WRIGHT. WELLINGTON, September 25. Lawless niatcraft kept the referee busy when Lofty Blomfield wrestled Rube Wright, of Texas, in the Wellington Town Hall 'to-night. Blomlield won by two falls to one. Wright incurred a penalty for illicit use of his knee in the third round, but revenged himself immediately by jolting lllomfield groggy and pinning him. Blomfield took the deciding fall in round seven with an octopus clamp, to which Wright submitted. There was a large crowd. The referee was kept consistently busy, mainly by fisticuffs and knee-jolts. The bout was a simple, hearty, uproarious affaii of violence, rather than science, and greatly entertained the large crowd.
